How to restrict access to a folder in Windows

Introduction

we create folder to store our essential data. sometimes we store our sensitive data in a folder which we do not want other users to access it. So in this article we will discuss how to restrict access to a folder to other users in Windows.

To restrict access to a folder in Windows

  • First right click on a folder whose access to be restricted. A shortcut or context menu will appear.
  • Click on Properties option in the menu.

  • New folder properties Window will appear. Click on Security tab

  • Select Administrators and click on Edit button

  • Select Administrators and under Permissions for Administrators, select all the check boxes under deny option.
  • click on Apply button.

  • Windows Security window will appear. click on yes button.
  • Lastly click on OK button.
  • The folder will be blocked .No one can open it even the owner cannot open it.
  • We can unblock it whenever we want .

How to unblock a folder in Windows

  • Again right click on the folder to be unblocked. A shortcut or context menu will appear.
  • Click on Properties option in the menu.
  • New folder properties Window will appear. Click on Security tab
  • Select Administrators and click on Edit button
  • Select Administrators and under Permissions for Administrators, remove all the check mark from the boxes under deny option by clicking
  • click on Apply button
  • and then on OK .
