An application software is a group of program used to perform some specific tasks. Different application software performs different operations.
There are two types of application software such as
i. General purpose application software
ii. Specific purpose application software
General purpose application software
General purpose application software performs a wide range of tasks. This type of software is used for general use such as Word processing software which are used for typing, editing, formatting documents and Spreadsheet software which are used for performing mathematical calculations, analysing financial data, filtering data etc.
Specific purpose application software
Specific purpose application software performs some specific tasks according to the requirement of the organization or the user. It is developed keeping in view of the requirement of the user or the organization such as payroll processing system which is used to process payroll of the employee of an organization, ticket reservation system which will be used to book tickets for the user etc.
