Ans : The two advantages of relating a table in a database are –
i. A Relationship between tables help prevent data redundancy
ii. Creating relationships between tables restricts the user from entering invalid data in the
referenced fields.
2. How is redundancy or inconsistency controlled in a database ?
Ans : Redundancy or inconsistency is controlled by setting relationships between tables in a
database. It helps to check whether the record for a particular entity is repeated or there exists
different data values for a single entity in the database.
3. Define referential integrity . Who maintains referential integrity in a database ?
Ans: Referential Integrity in a database is a concept used to ensure accuracy and consistency
of data of tables in a database.
4. Differentiate between one to one relationship and one to many relationship.
Give suitable examples to explain your answer.
Ans : In one to one relationship one specific record of a master table has one and only one
corresponding record in the transaction table .
For example: One student can have only one ID card.
whereas in one to many relationship one specific record of the master table has more than one
corresponding records in the related transaction table.
For example : one teacher teaches multiple students or takes multiple classes.
5. Explain many to many relationships with an example.
Ans : In many to many relationship multiple records of a master table has multiple
corresponding records in the transaction table.
For example: multiple customers order multiple products.
